Top 10 Weirdest Facts About the Solar System

Image
The solar system is a bizarre place with its alien planets, mysterious moons and strange phenomena that are so out-of-this-world they elude explanation. Scientists have discovered ice-spewing volcanoes on Pluto, while Mars is home to a truly "grand" canyon the size of the United States. There may even be a giant, undiscovered planet lurking somewhere beyond Neptune. Read on to find out some of the strangest facts about planets, dwarf planets, comets and other incredible objects around the solar system. 1.Mars has the biggest volcano NASA Olympus Mons is a very large shield volcano on the planet Mars. The volcano has a height of over 21 km as measured by the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter. Olympus Mons is about two and a half times Mount Everest's height above sea level. 2.Mars also has the longest valley NASA/JPL-Caltech Valles Marineris is a system of canyons that runs along the Martian surface east of the Tharsis region. At more than 4,000 km long, 200 km wide and up to...

10 Species that completely Extinct from the Earth

Image
E arth is home of countless species of flora and fauna but climate change and excessive hunting and other factors, a lot of them are getting extinct.  Here are some of the incredible creatures we've driven to extinction in the last century and a half. 1.The Northern White Rhinoceros The last two living northern white rhino's in existence happen to both be female as the last male died in March of 2018. Sudan, the 45-year old male was under armed guard at Kenya's Ol Pejeta Conservancy when he passed away from old age and an infection. Cause of Extinction:  poaching has decimated this population and loss of habitat also helped drive the rhino to the brink of extinction. 2.The Spix Macaw Thought to be extinct in the wild, the Spix Macaw currently exists in captivity with their numbers in the dismally low 60-80 range. The bird is also referred to as Little Blue Macaw because they're known for their vibrant blue feathers. Cause of Extinction:  the Spix Macaw went extinct...

Top 10 Incredible Nebula's Images

Image
If we look a little further than our own atmosphere, deep into the furthest reaches of outer space, the clouds we can see are truly out-of-this-world - here are some of our favourite cloud nebula pictures. Space is a marvellous place, and thanks toHubble Space Telescope, and the Herscel Telescope and Spitzer Telescope we are able to capture the beauty of space: Before going into the post, first we need to know about these object : What is Nebula ? A nebula is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases. Originally, the term was used to describe any diffused astronomical object, including galaxies beyond the Milky Way.  10.Eagle Nebula 9.Carina Nebula 8.NGC 6302: The Butterfly Nebula 7.Cat's Eye Nebula 6.Orion Nebula 5.Crab Nebula 4.Helix Nebula 3.Horsehead Nebula 2.Lemon Slice Nebula 1.The Pillars of Creation . Top 10 Deadliest Planets In The Universe

Image
In the vast universe scientist discovers strange phenomena, planets and much more. Unlike earth every planets we discovers have different composition of elements which is mostly not habitable for human to survive. : These deadly planets are ready to kill any creature that strays too close or tries to develop on them. Most of the planets on this list are not just too hot or cold. They have more terrible conditions that will never support life. CoRoT-7b   CoRoT-7b is an exoplanet orbiting around the star CoRoT-7, in the constellation Monoceros, at 489 light years from Earth. It was first detected photometrically by the French-led CoRoT mission and reported in February 2009. The exoplanet Corot-7b is so close to its Sun-like host star that it must experience extreme conditions. This planet has a mass five times that of Earth’s and is in fact the closest known exoplanet to its host star, which also makes it the fastest — it orbits its star at a speed of more than 750 000 kilometr...

Top 10 Scientific Discoveries of the Decade

Image
Rapid pace of change in science and technology, we almost forget what we didn't know just few years ago.  Here are our picks for the decade's biggest scientific advances and surprising discoveries.  HIV Preventative Treatment Today, many people at high risk for contracting the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which causes AIDS, pop a daily pill to reduce their risk. In 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a medication, called Truvada, for this purpose. But it was a large study released in 2011 that set the stage for this sea change in HIV prevention.  The First Synthetic 'Life' After almost 15 years of work and $40 million, a team of scientists at the J. Craig Venter Institute says they have succeeded in creating the first living organism with a completely synthetic genome. This advance could be proof that genomes designed in a computer and assembled in a lab can function in a donor cell, eventually reproducing fully functional living creatures, t...
